As Marketing Manager, I provide technical and commercial training to our employees and customers. Human Resource and Training professionals play a crucial role in ensuring the success of any modern company, product, or service. At Paladon Systems, we place a high priority on ensuring our employees and customers receive the most effective and up-to-date training possible. Proper training can help increase sales, ensure safe use of a product, and engage employees about new technologies. In many companies, training courses are under-appreciated and underfunded – besides the snacks at the door. Too often, we rely on the same PowerPoint presentation format and even copy the same slides from last year. Beyond the technical limitations of PowerPoint, employees and customers are simply not engaged by these presentations anymore.

Modern HR and Training professionals are seeking new ways and technologies to help engage employees and customers in their commercial and technical trainings.

They make training interesting and engaging whenever possible. At Paladon Systems, I am constantly seeking ways to engage and interact the audience during trainings and presentations, rather than just giving a lecture. A more modern way to engage the audience is the use of virtual reality or augmented reality content. I have initiated the use of virtual reality to both improve the quality and the interactivity of our training courses. The ENTiTi Creator (LINK) software allows trainers to easily create interactive virtual reality and augmented reality content that users can experience from their cellphones while in the audience. As an example, I created a virtual valve, valve actuator and control system package for employees to personally experience exactly how these systems can open and close valves. I found WakingApp’s software easy to use and the response was from the audience was outstanding! After creating the model, each person in the audience could experience the system in operation in front of their eyes in augmented reality using their cellphones. Without having to manufacture and distribute the parts inside the training, the virtual experience gave each person the impression that they could touch and feel the product, making the educational component of the training that much more effective. I highly recommend other human resource and training personnel to try out augmented and virtual reality as a way to improve the effectiveness of their training courses.
